Miss Paula's Fine Art Classes

An atelier style, step by step, individualized program for young artists ages 5 to 12. We teach drawing and painting basics for a strong fine art foundation, as well as the technical "how" of drawing and painting.

We start with drawing and our first medium at the child level is pastel, because it so versatile, forgiving and fun. Then, color, value and detail that will start in an illustrative style and set the stage for more realistic paintings as they progress.  

Each person is taught one on one in a group setting and their progress is measured by their individual ability and speed.

An atelier style, step by step, individualized program for young artists ages 13-18. Our evenings allow learners to establish good foundational drawing and painting skills, the technical "how", and perspectives of seeing the world as a puzzle to learn the shapes and lines that make that puzzle whole. 

The teen learner is also taught the use of color, value and detail that will start in a realistic style, learning to draw what is seen. Often the greatest lesson is that we can do hard things with desire and practice. We encourage individual style and sketchbook work at home and sharing in a safe and constructive manner.  Our teen students go on to Cal Arts, Otis and SCAD for further art education.

A class focused on teaching adults the skills needed to enjoy drawing and painting. 

Whether you are brand new to art or returning to it after some time away, this is a class that will teach and encourage you to grow in your art. The main foundation is drawing because we believe that strong drawing skills enhance painting skills. 

In our adult classes the learner is able to choose their medium of choice:

Charcoal/Pastel

Watercolor

Oil Painting

 Color Pencil/ Ink/ Marker 

Art is a great way to relax and create something beautiful and we will help guide you in your art journey. We believe anyone can learn to draw and paint. It's never too late!
