Our Goals

Our goals for our students:

  1. Make a difference in the world by helping people of all ages learn to see the world with the eyes of an artist.
  2. Encourage clear and independent thinking, and by doing so, make choices that benefit oneself and others.
  3. Teach a technical skill that the learner can use for the entirety of their life, while having fun.
  4. Make the world a better place by creating beautiful works of art.
  5. Make a positive difference every day.

Children's Fine Art Classes

P.B. Picasso's Fine Art Classes for Children are focused on teaching the artist ages 5 to 12 good foundational drawing skills.  This atelier style program uses a step by step process that was used by the masters.

Our focus is on teaching the art learner the technical "how" of drawing and painting.  Each person is taught one on one in a group setting and their progress is measured by their individual ability and speed.  We start with drawing and our first medium at the child level is pastel. We use this medium because it it so versatile, forgiving and fun. The art learner is also taught the use of color, value and detail that will start in an illustrative style and set the stage for more realistic paintings as they progress.  All of this is done in a fun, clean, and safe place where everyone is encouraged to create their own special art piece.

Teen Fine Art Classes

P.B. Picasso's Fine Art Classes for Teens are focused on teaching the artist ages 13-18 good foundational drawing skills.  This atelier style program uses a step by step process that was used by the masters.

Our focus is on teaching the art learner the technical "how" of drawing and painting.  Each person is taught one on one in a group setting and their progress is measured by their individual ability and speed . Teens are started by learning how to see the world as a puzzle and learning the shapes and lines that make that puzzle whole. The teen learner is also taught the use of color, value and detail that will start in a realistic style, learning to draw what is seen. There are a diverse amount of interests and we do our best to make sure our teen artists are able to grow and improve their art skills in fun and challenging ways.  Often the greatest lesson is that we can do hard things with desire and practice. We encourage individual style and sketchbook work at home and sharing in a safe and constructive manner.  Our teen students go on to Cal Arts, Otis and SCAD for further art education.

This class is focused on teaching adults the skills needed to enjoy drawing and painting. Whether you are brand new to art or returning to it after some time away, this is a class that will teach and encourage you to grow in your art.  The main foundation is drawing because we believe that strong drawing skills enhance painting skills. In our adult classes the learner is able to choose their medium of choice:

Charcoal/Pastel

Watercolor

Oil Painting

 Color Pencil/ Ink/ Marker

Art is a great way to relax and create something beautiful and we will help guide you in your art journey.

We believe anyone can learn to draw and paint. It's never too late!

Miss Paula Bradley

Miss Paula has been teaching for 40+ years, specifically art for 25 of those.

Her favorite part about teaching art:

ALL OF IT! When the lightbulb goes on, watching people grow, and watching people go from knowing nothing about art to making masterpieces!

Piece of advice for students:

Make mistakes. Make lots of them,

and don't judge yourself

Miss Chelsea has been teaching for 11 years (but was part of Miss Paula's art class since 7 years old!)

Her favorite part about teaching art:

How goofy the kids can be! The things they'll say, do, and draw... It's always nice to have an unexpected joke in your day!

Piece of advice for students:

Make art like you would make pancakes.

Piece of advice for students:

Make art like you would make pancakes.

Sometimes you're going to have some good ones, sometimes you're going to have some bad ones, but either way you're making pancakes! And either way you're making art.

Miss Noelle has been teaching for around 10 years!

Her favorite part about teaching art: Watching the kids' growth, progress, creativity, seeing childhood imagination, and the wild ideas they get!

Piece of advice for students: Be kind to yourself. Don't be too hard on yourself; that's something especially the little ones struggle with. If you're doing your best, recognize that!

We use a step by step process to drawing and painting ensuring every person can learn to draw and paint. We focus on progress not perfection so our students learn through the process of art, not just the product.

We believe art is the cornerstone of civilization, with out it we wouldn't have the lives we lead today and without it in our future, no innovations could be truly represented.

Testimonials

This is an image of a mother proud of her daughter as Miss Paula holds up her finished art piece.

What our clients say...

"My ten year old son had his first art class two weeks ago with Paula. He was guided to use his creativity and was also shown different techniques. We have tried other art classes in the area and none made him feel like it was fun. She didn't stand over his shoulder to make him uncomfortable like I had observed at the other places.  My son was extremely satisfied with his experience and was excited to come back. Paula has a different approach to teaching her students that I noticed immediately. She has a way of encouraging her students that promotes creativity and confidence."

"My two kids have been attending classes with Picasso's Playmates for the past year. They are so excited to see Miss Paula each week. Their progress is clearly evident from their pastel  portfolios. They each entered two art pieces in the community art show and were thrilled to both receive prizes! Paula  is consistently patient, kind, humorous, creative, and a wonderful instructor. I highly recommend Picasso's Playmates for every budding artist!"

"As the mom of three, I've tried tons of extracurricular activities. Picasso's Playmates is my favorite because the quality of teaching is excellent. Paula, the owner has been loving and helpful to all my children. She's the sort of teacher you wish they had in high school. She helps without doing. She doesn't try to make cookie cutter artists but trains them in foundational art techniques and then allows personal creativity. The other bonus is that the price is very reasonable!"

“It’s not art class, it’s life class, but you get to paint.” I can’t think of a better description for taking art class with Paula. I’ve been taking art classes with her since I was seven and no matter what problem I was having that week, Paula was always there for me to provides wisdom and if need some tough love. Her approach to teaching art has also taught me many skills that have helped not just in life but in school as well. Paula emphasizes problem solving skills, independent thinking, and diligence in art. For me, Paula went a step further and taught me listening and communicating skills, which I struggled so much with."
